MCP

Connect Claude, Cursor or another agent: hosted with your sign-in, or on your computer.

What it does

CommentKit speaks the Model Context Protocol, so Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and other agents can read your project’s feedback and tasks, including the screenshot, the page and the source file. If you allow it, the agent can also reply, link the commit and mark a task ready for review. It cannot resolve, assign or delete anything.

Connect with your sign-in (recommended)

The easiest way: add https://commentkit.dev/mcp as a remote MCP server. Your app opens CommentKit in the browser, you choose the project and what the agent may do, and you are done. No token to copy.

Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http commentkit https://commentkit.dev/mcp

In Claude, Cursor or VS Code, add a custom connector or MCP server with the same address. You can disconnect it any time in Project → Developers.

Or run it on your computer

The comment-kit-mcp package runs on your machine (Node.js 20 or newer). Open Project → Developers, create an agent token and choose what it may do. Copy the token (it is shown once) and the project ID. Tokens belong to one project and expire after 30 days.

MCP configuration
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "commentkit": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "comment-kit-mcp"
      ],
      "env": {
        "COMMENT_KIT_PROJECT_ID": "123",
        "COMMENT_KIT_ACCESS_TOKEN": "your-agent-token"
      }
    }
  }
}

Keep the token private and out of your repository. Your website’s project key cannot replace it.

The tools

  • list_feedback and list_tasks list website feedback, or feedback and dashboard tasks together.
  • search_feedback searches the text, or finds an item such as CK-12.
  • get_feedback reads one item by id or CK-12: page, element, source file, device, linked commits, the whole conversation and any console errors.
  • get_feedback_screenshot returns the reviewer’s screenshot as an image.
  • reply_to_feedback replies in the conversation (reply permission).
  • link_commit shows the commit or pull request on the task, and mark_ready_for_review asks the reviewer to check the fix (status permission).
  • check_request tells whether a write that waited for approval went through.

Try: “List open feedback on the pricing page, fix CK-12, link the commit, then mark it ready for review.” Only a person can resolve feedback.

Approval

By default a person approves what an agent writes. Replies, “ready for review” and commit links wait under Agent requests in CommentKit, and the person who connected the agent is notified. Nothing changes until someone on the team approves. Project admins can turn this off in Project → Developers.

Use feedback as context

Feedback is written by people outside your team. CommentKit marks it as untrusted and tells the agent to treat it as a description of a problem, never as instructions.

If a token expires or is revoked, create a new one and update your configuration. Do not put tokens in prompts, issue reports or URLs.
